What is growing in my yard?

It's officially spring, and my yard shows it!

But what is everything?

H having a hard time putting down her apple so I could take a picture. Ironically, this pict turned out cuter than the others. Had to share!

Is it mint? It's growing all over the place!

The yard is simply carpeted with different colored flowers. These dark purple blossoms (little hard to see in the pict) are growing in the shadiest areas of the yard. Sunny locations are filled with the blue flowers pictured very first in this post, and less lush areas have small, white blossoms.

These are also those blue ones. I don't know why my camera keeps turning them white.

Are these wild onions?

Are they edible?

Ah, it could be wild onion (or garlic or leek), or it could be death camas. Hmmm . . . that's exciting. I'm glad an onion (or garlic or leek) smells like an onion (or garlic or leek)! These things grow all over the yard as well. S found larger ones on Friday. The one he picked for me was almost as big as the green onions you'd find in the store. I didn't smell it, though. We should probably do that, huh. . . .

Curly Hair

I really want to cut/trim H's hair before baby and family come. There are going to be too many pictures taken during a time when I'm most definitely not going to have the time to think about what her hair looks like. I'd like to do it myself because I'm such a control freak when it comes to hair. (Okay, maybe control freak isn't the right word. . . .) Pretty much, if I'm going to expend the effort to have it done, I want it to turn out the way I want it! :)

I want to keep the hair in front swept to the side as it is because that hair usually lays flat when left to itself anyway. Although, there is a little curl starting up to the side on the top, as you can see in the next picture. :)

Her hair at the top of her head is longer than the hair underneath when it should be the other way around!

Her face shape is much like this, but her hair isn't as curly on top, so I'm not sure if we can pull off this look as her hair grows or not. . . .

. . . . Who was it that wrote that "ultimate" book on the care of curly hair, in all its varieties?

These two women, esp the one on the left, sport more the shape I want her hair to have--but with soft, little girl curls. The hair on top is straight, and then the sides and back are layered in a short cut. This is how I want her hair to look after it's been finger-combed! When she actually lets us wet it and put conditioner in it, then it'll curl more, like the following picture. However, hers won't be nearly as thick. (I really need a sweet, innocent little girl picture of this hairstyle!)

Here's how H's hair kinda looks after we've had to chance to "do" it, although her curls are not nearly as syncronized! It's not really my thing, although it's nice to see someone else sporting the same look!

Probably the best article I've come across regarding the taming of curly hair. It covers most everything I've read in a number of articles. Nice to have all the info in one place!

So, anyway, I think just shortening the back and leaving the top and sides (mostly) alone will do the trick, since the top and sides are already pretty short. Wish me luck!

Couch & Nursery Picts

Here's my new sitting room! (front room, living room, whatever you want to call it) Next up, replacing the winter quilt with real blinds for the window behind it and replacing the carpet. . . . or not. . . .

The boxes in the middle are just the last boxes of books to be unpacked once we get a new bookcase. Again, maybe this Saturday?

I keep cleaning out this nursery, but it keeps getting dumped on again as we continue on to various other projects around the house. I guess I'll just have to wait until I'm nesting to clean it up if I want it to stay cleaned up!

And here's my Love. He returned some books to the library last night.

Oh, and how's his project coming? The dishwasher? Well, he's got most of the plumbing in, and last night he picked up parts for the rest of the plumbing he needs to do. The permit for the electrical work is also filled out, turned in, and paid for. Next, it just needs to be done! Well, if it isn't done by the time baby comes, like most of my projects, it's not like he won't be taking time off work anyway, right?
